By far the scariest show i have ever seen....i remember people running out of the area...very scary theme throughout the show...best show of that year.IMHO...the DS was huge... the victum if i recall was the tune that had people crawling out of their skin....1989+last show of tour+halloween=This

That one's a little rough around the edges, but in my opinion that's the best post-hiatus Dark Star.

That list left this one off...

I find the later 80's Dark Stars to be just a tiny bit more melodic than space, all doomy space jamming with not enough lilting beauty - that beauty is a large part of the attraction to the GD. The 12/31/81 version is great in that Jerry is still alive, the Bertha that follows is just so upbeat and happy.

Agree, great DS. Got the tape a few weeks after the show and still have it.

I was living in Florida at the time and remember stupidly not going to these shows. I went to see the Stones Steel Wheels tour around the same month, though. A couple months later, my roommate got a girlfriend who went to the shows in Miami and brought back tapes of the Formerly the Warlocks shows at Hampton, we made copies, as you do, and they became favorites, especially with the return of Dark Star. It was a year or so later that the tapes of the Miami '89 shows turned up in my circle of friends. Great stuff. Thanks for the reminder, time to get them on for another session.
